A laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted by the LightSheer diode laser is well absorbed by the pigment located at the hair follicles. During this procedure, the laser pulses for a fraction of a second, long enough to heat up the hair and significantly impede the follicles ability to re-grow.
The length of a laser treatment may last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the size of area being treated. Hairs currently in an active growth phase (referred to as anagen) are most affected by the Laser. As not all hairs are in the same phase, more than one treatment will be necessary.
If you suffer from annoying conditions such as razor burn, in-grown hairs or irritation, then laser hair removal is the perfect answer!
Laser hair removal gives the sensation of an elastic band flick or a small poke, but this only lasts a fraction of a second.
Approximately 6 treatments are required, however this varies from person to person. Pigment in the hair (hair color) and personal tolerance play a role in the number of treatments required.
Normally treatments on the body are spaced at 8 weeks a part. Treatments above the neck are 4-6 weeks apart.
The area to be treated must be shaven of all hair, but NOT waxed, plucked or threaded for at least 3-4 weeks prior. If desired a topical numbing cream (EMLA) can be applied one hour prior to your treatment. Topical numbing creams are available for sale at any pharmacy upon request.
